About the Movement

My name is Tanika Salmon, and I created Black Girl Magic Day because I refuse to let another generation of little Black girls grow up feeling invisible.

What began as a Harlem pink carpet celebration has grown into the Black Girl Magic Day Foundation — advancing year-round mentorship, afterschool clubs, and wellness workshops for girls ages 6–15, while we fight to make May 23 a nationally recognized day.

Together, we’re making sure every girl feels seen, celebrated, and supported.
